I want a snorkel for my PETROL Navara. Airtec and Safari dont do one for the V6, neither do Nissan. I really dont want to make one. Are there any other brands? Any ideas??

cheers

The 2 brands you mentioned are the mainstream ones - so if they don't and Nissan don't make them, there won't be an off the shelf one.

However, an exhaust shop will be able to bend you up one to suit but you may have to supply the rubber coupling onto the air filter housing and clamps, possibly cut the hole in the body panel into the engine bay for them. Use a proper hole saw though for a neat hole.

Although you don't want to you could make one yourself out of 80mm PVC pipe (about $28.00 for 3 metres and $4.00ish for the 45 and 90 degree bends). The air ram housing off a Safari model is 85mm so it will clamp up OK onto the top of the 80mm pipe.

What about a Deisel one. Do they make them?

If so could you adapt it to suit.

Mt diesel Navara (99) has a safari snorkel. I would think it would fit with a bit of internal plumbing in the engine bay.

Yeh, i think that i'll have to do that. I'm going go to the local dealer and have a look at the airbox from the one on the diesel and compare it to mine.

hey navaraman,

Was your airbox originally on the left hand side (passenger) just behind the headlight? Do you know how much of a diff it is to the petrol? Mines an '03 model but i would think the engine bays are very similar...

Pretty much as you describe., passenger side behind the headlight. I might try and sneak a look in an engine bay of a new petrol Navara and compare the two.
