Showers in camper trailers

Submitted: Friday, Sep 03, 2004 at 22:09

Highlands

Can anyone tell me the smallest camper trailer, pop-top or caravan that has its own shower and toilet. We have done quite a bit of research but it seems we need to go to a fairly large caravan before we can get a shower and toilet. We want to able to take it off road which we know narrows our choices. Any advice would be greatfully received.

Thanks in advance

me thinks that if you dont want a bigger van than you should seriously look at the glind, twine, and coleman shower setups. if modesty is an issue than a shower screen is the answer. hope this helps in some way.

As above for showers, easy pop-up screens are available through local camping stores. Otherwise the APC routine daily from a hot basin and visit your friendly caravan park whenever you need a good soaking shower and washing machine.

I'm not sure that you will find a trailer that has all that you want as standard inclusions.

G'day Highlands,
The caravan and camping shows have it all these days and i dug out some brochures from last years show that impressed me .Take a look at the Windsor Rapid. It reads "A pop top caravan that maximses space like no other"ranging in size from 3-4 metres, the Windsor Rapid has a range of layouts and optional extras, including shower and toilet. This van also comes as an off road.I liked this van for build quality and especially ease of set up.

Track trailers in Victoria make a very compact & sturdy go almost anywhere van that has a shower & toilet. http://www.tracktrailer.com/AllTerrain.html
There are also a couple of camper trailers that have hot water systems with zip on shower screens but not in the class of Track. Cheers Craig.........

Thanks Crackles. I took your advice and had a look at their website. It looks very interesting. Their NSW distributor will be at the Prnrith Show next weekend and I am hoping they will have an All Terrain on show.

Most vans, either pop top or solid roof, that have a shower toilet combo start at around 17' (5.5 metres Body Length) with tare weight of 1500 - 1600 kg . Depending on the tow vehicle you have I would be considering if the one you has is suitable.

We have a Jayco Freedom 16ft and carry the following:

Fiamma portable chemical toilet
12 volt hand held shower (dunk the filter in a bucket and away you go)
Folding ensuite tent

The advantage of having them portable is we can use them camping/fishing as caravanning.

Looked into the Primus or Coleman gas camp showers at $400 a pop, at that price we'll stick with heating the water with the solar shower bag, the gas stove or the camp fire.

There is always a trade off for more mod cons.
