Anderson plug

Any one know where to buy the 2 pin 50amp Anderson plugs. I have never found an electrical retailer who sells them and many don't know what they are. Usually I have to chase up a trailer manufacturer to get them in for me and they charge $$$$$.
Anyone know the distributors ???

You can order them online from
http://www.rsaustralia.com/
they deliver the next day and they are bloody cheap compared to most places, you just have to order the plug casing and pins as seperate items tho, I will look up the numbers from when I ordered them and let you know what they are

ok, if you are interested, the plastic housing is 290-6124 for the grey type, or 290-6146 for red $5.02 each. The pins are 290-6118 $2.23 each, I ordered a few extra so if I want to change the plug for any reason I can

Thanks for the prompt info fellas , exactly what I wanted.
The pricing is excellent as I have paid about $33/ pair in the past - you can see why I was trying to by-pass the middle man.

Funny that. I used to work for RS as a rep and they aren't cheap on much, but they are on these, in fact the freight may cost you more than one of the connectors!

RS were a good company to deal with when I used to buy stuff off them
BUT having worked for them my absolute best comment on what I thought of them to work for is to try their competition who provide equal service and on this item are CHEAPER.

I'll provide info on both and let you decide. Both have trade counters in Sydney. RS also have one in Melbourne. You can pick up at trade counters avoiding freight otherwise both used to deliver overnight to pretty much anywhere in the country, I suppose they still do.

RS Components
You do actually have to order the case and pins separately on the 50A version which is what I think you are probably after.

The housings are sold in pairs in either red or grey and are $5.02 ea +GST (ie. $10.04 + GST for the pair - RS quote prices on each item even if they are sold in pairs.)
red 290-6146
grey 290-6124

The contacts to suit are part 290-6118 and are $2.23 ea + GST with a minimum order of 4.

The minimum order of both will give you enough bits for a pair of connectors for a total of about $22 plus freight.
So say for a pair in grey order
2 x 290-6124 @ $5.02 ea + GST
4 x 290-6118 @ $2.23 ea + GST

FARNELL
Alternatively try Farnell (RS's Competition) at Farnell In One

They have the same connector from a different manufacturer.
Part no's
397-4017 red
397-4029 grey
both of which are $6.98 + GST per connector including terminals.
Order two of either part no with these guys to get a pair for about $16

Farnell also do the 160 Amp and massive 320 Amp version!

Any queries PM me.

Didn't read everything above Cocka but go straight to anyone who's into caravan servicing, repairs and accessories (a caravan specialist) - guaranteed to have them - Anderson seem very big in the caravan game.....my 50A was $22....you might do better....they are a great design for a plug....when my new camper turned up, it had a spare plug ! Ayway, I did my wiring on the car months ago.

Didn't think of Ashdowns, I wish they'd put their prices on the net though.

You have a few options now anyway. Best of luck with it.
