Explorer electrics?

After two years I finally pulled a cover plate off the lower dash just to the right of the bonnet release to find an electrical socket of some kind. Does anyone have a clue what it may be for as the manual ingores its existance. Trev

Trev ,even the local Ford dealer has no clue, have tested for power and is live only when engine running , will follow this thread with great interest to see what the plug/connection is for...Axel
