80 series Flat Spot

Submitted: Saturday, Aug 03, 2002 at 00:00

Steve

I have a 94 model 80 series petrol Cruiser, the engine has a flat when I lightly accelerate after
backing off and removing my foot from the accelerator. I have had the vehicle to Toyota who
plug it into their computer and tell me everything is normal - this is not so.

I had Toyota do a hot flush on the fuel system which seemed to solve the problem but this only
lasted about three weeks before the problem was back.

Has anyone experienced this problem or more importantly know what the solution is

I had a simalar problem with my 80 series when I got it. The vehicle only had 35k on it and I thought it was par for the course. It gradually became worse and even travelling along it was surging ever so lightly and at times very noticable. After many visits to Toyota people The local mechanic worked out it had been the fuel pump. Once changed out no more problems. But expensive
