Hi,
I am not sure if you are refering to the exhaust jack.
If you are, then it really depends on the situation you are in at the time you need to use it. Sometimes you cant place it where you would prefer it to go. I have used mine in many different
places. The most important thing for me is making sure it is well protected from sharp objects. I do this by using sacks both above it and below it. I usually carry 4 and in one instance my only option was to place the bag under some sharp points. The sacks folded to thicken the distance between the sharp objects and the bag were enought to stop it from popping.
They are a fantastic tool. I even use it when i do a tyre rotation at home.
