Presumably, you mean which side (L or R) should each light be mounted??
I don't think that there is a "right" or "wrong" way of doing it, simply whatever you prefer...
FWIW, I have the distance (spot) beam on the RHS.. closer to the centre of the road.. Others may prefer the opposite..

I think it’s personal preference, I don’t have that problem as I have a set of Lightforce 240’s, But they are set up with the Flood (Driving) Light on the Passenger Side to light up the Bush on the Verge and the Spot on My (Drivers) Side for Beaming down the middle of the road. Works for me.

but thinking of a set of 181's on top of the bar for more side of the road action...

Well i have done the totally wrong thing but it works well..
A couple of spotties on the bar like normal,,,,,,, both are flood lights,, one for left side of road and other for right,,,,,, and a lightforce240 in the middle for straight down the guts of the road...It is illegal to have odd lights on the front i believe but not a well known law....
You can see the furry things coming from all angles then...I had hit too many from the right hand side which made me do the lights like that...

I now have three Ziel lights, ($140 ea from Repco) with a spot in the middle and the driving lights either side, but previous to buying the third light I had the spot on the drivers side and the driving on the passenger side.... a few people told me it was wrong, that I should have had the spot on the passenger side but I couldn't see the difference and found that the setup was great for me!

Hi all

Tried a few different combinations and now just run 2 Hella 2000 driving lights. which gives good range and a great spread with no distracting hot spots. We found we can actually see furries further away than before because we are not having to concentrate on the narrow spot beam. The headlights fill in the closer stuff and we have made sure they are also set up properly.

When we ran the super Oscars (one spot, one driving) we tried it both ways and found that the spot on the left aimed to the edge of the road gave the best furry warning as it lit up the road edge and the grass edges they hide in. Great on the open road but useless in tight stuff as the spot light was too concentrated and you were relying on one less light for that 'angle' view.

Whatever you run getting the aiming (including height) set up so the light is where you need it is critical. I have jumped in a few mates vehicles with great lights that didn't show up anything because they had never been aligned.
