Tell that to the mechanic who stripped down my mates GQ at 480,000 klms, always run with a Frantz, and which looked and ran like new. (Why did he strip it? Because he was buying it.) He reassembled it and replaced virtually nothing......
Or to me with my Isuzu diesel nearing 25 years old, huge ( god knows how many) klms as the odo stopped years ago -but over 400,000 and 14 year old Patrol, both absolutely perfect mechanically.....
Yes you need the cardboard roll in the centre, you also need the right size (small) centre which is getting hard to get. Some commercial toilet paper is still perfect.
You're probably better off buying the specially made stuff which various suppliers have. Cheers
