I am after driving LIGHTS for my vehicle,
1.. lightforce 170 or
2.. hella rally 4000,
has anybody found cheap prices for either of these LIGHTS....i live on the Gold Coast, and the shops are just way over priced....

Autobarn $600 per light = $1200

TJM 4wd shop on special $450 per light = $900....

are these prices right...if so i must be under paid, or they have gold fittings

i noticed on ebay there is a set (2) of the rally 4000 for $395 "buy it now"...

As I am not a big fan of ebay...can someone please direct me to some place that does not want to empty my pocket in 10 minutes.

thank you,

Tony

I did post this in a reply to someones else's question by mistake... but need help.

Hi Wolfman,

1200 for rallye 4000 is B.S.
I got mine for 260 each from truckline in sydney.
They may have quoted you for the NEW rallye 4000 driving lights( they have a LED rim around the light, like the BMW headlights.) these are more expensive than the standard 4000's.
the lightforce 170 should be even cheaper.

Tony,

members who know him can talk to Member Eric - who is a car wholesaler for 240s, but I am not sure about 170s. For those who think he may be advertising or I may be doing it for him, he actually does advertise in the commercial section too.

He is going past your territory soon - holidaying to Straddie. He is a nice fellow but it is easier to talk to members as another member. There all sorts of ways your membership then is seen to pay for itself. Goodluck.

G'day wolfman,
I'd suggest that you try Autopro for a price on the Hella 's.... I've found their prices to be very competitive generally, & if you're a 'regular' (as I am) I've found that they can often be persuaded to reduce prices substantially below 'list price'...
Actually, the ebay item you mention ($395/pr) is probably pretty close to as good as you'll get for these.. are the lights new?? Of course, you have postage costs on top to consider as well... Anyway, give Autopro a buzz, & see what they say...
Can't help with L'force.. sorry...

Regards, Ed. C.

Member Eric sold me a pair of 170's for around $300 plus postage. Eric supplied the lights. I arranged my own wiring, relays etc
Cheers

Thank you all for the replies.

I spent 4 hours this morming going around, every autoshop in my area, and Autobarn did not have any hella 4000's in stock, offered me the hella rallye 1000 which they had in stock for $179 each.

TJM 4wd shop had the hella 4000 for $450 each (no fancy stuff just glass and black case with 2 adjustment knobs on the back) . I returned to TMJ later in the afteroon to make sure the sale guy did not make a mistake, and was quoting for a pair, but NO he said $900 if i wanted 2. That is when i came home to research on the internet.

both these stores were in the Burleigh Heads area.

I can see now, I am going to lose my window for the santa excuse to buy theses lights.

Again thank you for your replies.

Tony

Tony, I live in the same area and can relate. Little story if I may. After rattling 3 sets of Hellas into pieces on some Cape York trips I decided that the next set I'd just buy junk as it seemed a waste of money. (a few years ago now). So I waltzed into ...wait for it...cash converters at Palm Beach and shelled out $40 for a pair of spotlights. A couple of chrome things that I thought wouldnt embarrass me as they'd fall off along the track. Now that was 5 years and many corrugated tracks ago and I'm still sporting these things on my bar. A recent look in a mag and "hey, they're my lights !"....Super Oscars.
I'm not suggesting that they'd even approach Lightforce...but there again how would I know ? But for $40 I'm happy (and I hope someone didnt get em ripped off to make me that way....suspicious old twit that I am )
I guess that the moral of the story is that not all of the good gear has to come with a sticker :))))

He Wolfman.

I take it that you are sure the hella's will fit your car? They're the big light aren't they, whereas the lightforce 170 is a little takka. I've owned a set of big hella spotties, good stuff ! But they don't have any groovy lenses that scatter the light or give a white look, like the lightforce.

Try a stockist in your nearest major city and see if they'll post 'em to ya.
If you ask them to post "COD" they will be sent to your closest post office, who will put a note in your letter box when they're ready for pickup. You go in, pay the postage & COD and there you go, all yours. (COD stuff is declaired so it doesn't go missing)

I have lightforce 240 Blitz on my cruiser, they are great and adjustable too! I can change them from spread beam to spot just by turning the light (no tools needed), That is very handy at times.
I think l paid $500 for them fitted, I wont say from where because l am not happy with the shop anymore and l don,t wont to give them free advertisement, but it is in Vic so it is useless to you.
As far as ebay goes, go for it! Just check their feedback, if they have 100% positive or close to it, and a high number next to their name (indicates the amount of transactions) then you will be quiet safe.
Regards...........Stuart

I have just fitted a pair of the new IPF900 XS spots onto my 100 series. Without fail the best spot light I have ever driven with and I have tried a few, including hellas, lightforce and the ealier IPF's. These are the new waterproff versions that draw 65watts but output the eqivqlent to 130w. Dont ask me how. Try your local arb outlet. I paid $390 for the pair including the wiring loom and switch etc.
