Solar panel hook up

Hi All, Another one of those solar questions . . . I have available 2 x BP275F and 1 x BP160 (older panel) and a BP solar GCR M3000 regulator. Is it OK to use the three panels together and do I just parallel them then feed to the regulator ? I intend to mount them on the roof of our Jayco Freedom using 40 x 40 ali angle crossbars on nylon standoffs to clear the slight convex of the roof. The mounts will be well outboard so they can be secured through the lip of the roof and not into the closed part. Anyone done this before and are there any pitfalls ? Yes I am aware that the panels will not be as efficient as " follow the sun " but I figure that with 3 and a normal load I will be OK. Most of our touring is done in the North during the sunny months. I have a Honda 10eui for the rare times I need it.

Sounds like the Honda may just be extra weight with your rig. Make sure your regulator can handle the max output from the three panels so you get full charge when required.

No problems with the regulator it's rated at 30 Amps ! We usually go away for two to three months so the Honda is easy back up.

Hi GeeTee, the three panels should have come with diodes to stop the battery from discharging back through the panel at night. Make sure the diodes are in place and not only protecting the battery but should be wired up so that each panel is protected from the other panels.
This is done so that if a shadow falls over one panel, the others won’t back feed into it.
Cheers.
