I have been using the Mobil Delvac MX 15-40 since my car was 12 months old, it is now close to 5 years. It was recommended to me by the well known diesel service people near Canberra, and I believe it has been good for the vehicle. I do servicing religiously every 5K, and change the fuel filter every 10K with the oil filter.

Regardless of which oil you use, your warranty brochure will stipulate that if the engine requires new oil every 5000k then it must be done by a qualified mechanic, otherwise warranty may be deemed void.

I have been using synforces' "ProSYN D11" for a while and this could be worth looking at. It is a semi synthetic oil made especially for Japanese engines especially Nissans.

Worth considering for what it's worth.

I would suggest you use a 10W/30 grade oil for optimum fuel economy and maximum lubrication at start up. Its what the book recommends.
You can do your own servicing as long as you use genuine or reputable parts and it is serviced as per the log book service schedual.

Most new cars from 2000 on use the 10W/30 oil and its good stuff. Obviously you have to take into account the ambient temperatures the vehicle will be operating in so if you are going across the Simpson you may have to run a bit thicker oil such as 15W/40 for that area.
