Remember we built the raft to get our group rigs over the Wenlock River 1989.(Be honest Brian..They built the raft..You took videos and pix)..The raft helped a lot of other folk also. Our hundreds of group photos are aging rapidily.Let us all get them on to digital media..CD & DVD..Then distribute them to all interested..(Yes my 1980 Diahatsu is still going strong..18-R Toyota motor now.) Hi Rocky

I was not one of those people you are after but if you contact Linda Rowe at the Croc Shop now in Cooktown.
P.O. Box 788 Cooktown Q 4871 or 07 4069 5880 (info from the book)
Linda maybe able to help you as she knows many people and keeps in contact with some.
Linda has one of those pics of the rafts on page 59 in her book called "Paradise Lost", that she wrote of their times spent in the Gulf area many years ago.
We have met Linda on a few occassions and we finally bought the book which is a a great read.

Well 55 replied:

Did a double crossing in '76 using a block on the north bank and used a SWB on the south bank to pull a tray back across, the water was waist deep. Re-crossed a couple of days later.

The cable and block were already in place, but washed away a year latter.

I did the Cape in June 1988 with the Goulburn Valley 4WD Club. Found the Wenlock reasonably low and had no trouble driving across going both north and south. You're right about the photo's aging - mine are already suffering from sepia. I guess our crossing pics will be fairly tame compared to most but if you're interested I can send you some copies taken off the negatives. A great idea would be to arrange everyone's pics in chronological order to create a "living" record of Wenlock water levels and conditions across the years.
