Jaycar speedo corrector

I built and installed a Jaycar speedo corrector (KC-5380) today and fitted it to my 1997 Rodeo. Seems to work quite well.

So if anyone is considering fitting one I would go for it. Much cheaper than any prebuilt ones I have seen. Easy to fit a switch for switching between stock and play tyres too. Although I didn't bother.

Utemad.
Have you tested out the odometer? I found that these units dont work below 20ks so if you do any city driving or low range work the ks are not ticking over. I modified one by changing the bias on the first transistor and now it works down to about 5k. do you have acces to a portable CRO so you can test yours out? Eric.

Hi Mr Experience,

I only tested it at 40, 50, 60 and 70km/h. Tomorrow I will give it a thorough going over at all speeds. I'll keep an eye on the odo. Thanks for the tip.

I don't have access to a CRO.

Now... that would surely increase the re-sale value of your truck, wouldn't it?

I tested it at low speed and it works fine. Even when I just let the clutch out in 1st gear and idle along the odo ticks over fine.

Perhaps it works better in some configurations than in others in regards to procedure 1 and 2.
