Paul they will become noisy as they wear. Find a large enough area to drive in circles on and put the truck in low range 4wd and drive forwards and backwards with the steering on full lock both left and right. If your CVs are wearing out you will hear clicking/cluncking noises as you go around.

Paul.
Darryn has hit the nail on the head but a word of caution: Unless your 4WD had a centre diff in it DO NOT DO THIS on a hard (tar) surface as the front diff will wind up chronically to the point that you may even break an axle, at best you will have a dickens of a job getting it out of 4WD. (I had to jack up the inside front wheel of my Troopie to unlock it, the damn thing spun back a good half turn).

Brian replied:

Paul Worn CV's make a clacking sound especially when in L4 reverse.
Find an open area of dirt ,lock the hubs ,engauge L4 and do a slow circle on full wheel lock, if you hear a clacking sound it is time to get them replaced.
