Simpson W - E 7, 8 & 9th June

Hello all

It would seem that the Simpson is quite a popular place during the winter months and we have a small crew going from W - E on the 7, 8 & 9th of June.
I have asked on the Overlander forum and now here on Exploroz as well to find out how many, if any, people are doing the trip that way or BDV - Dalhousie around the same time.
I am keen to find out so we can get some sort of idea how much traffic we might expect to meet either coming or going.

Kalahari, last year around that time we were meeting about 10-15 cars a day crossing the Simpson, coming and going is a bit of a moving feast depending on your road approaches to Dalhousie or leaving Birdsville and you don't actually say that or how far from those centres.

Thanks for your comment. It would seem that there will be no shortage of vehicles to keep an eye out for and we will certainly keep a listening watch on Ch 10 UHF.
With the 'coming and going' I meant in the actual desert because I guess there will be any number of vehicles on the approach roads.

Got the flags covered. Saw too many head-ons during seismic exploration work in the 70's

I hear that they're gonna put traffic lights at the major intersections, and roundabouts at the lesser ones- as well as passing lanes between dunes on ths pans.

I guess you would have to live in Adelaide to know, but with them, anything's possible.

But think of it.... DAL (driver activated lighting) well why not... pilots get to key the radio mike to turn on runway lights at some aerodromes so why not low flying off-roaders......

There are service roads being put in adjacent to each K Mart too. Scan all UHF channels and speak regularly between yourselves so that others hear you.
