I have an eMap and used it for a number of years - and love it. It was about $1,000 all up from Johnny Appleseed and included the eMap, Car holder, leather carry case, SD card, Garmin Metroguide and a combine data and 12 volt power cable.
I do however reckon there are better
GPS's out there now for the money. Especially if you are going to use it with a PC or handheld like an Axim or IPAQ. If you are going to use it this way then you don't need a mapping
GPS (which is what the eMap is).
Also, note that there is a base map loaded onto the eMap and with the use of the Garmin SD cards you can load on the Metroguide
Australia maps which are good....but not brilliant. I have heard the Magellan Discover Aus??? maps are way better.
You cannot load any other maps directly onto the eMap other than the Metroguide.
Just beware, the price for the eMap might be good however if you want to load the Metroguide maps on you will need to buy a memory card - and the only ones it accepts are the Barmin SD cards - and they are very expensive. I would just caution on making sure you add up all the 'extra' costs of setting up an eMap - but with all that in mind - it is a good robust unit that has never let me down. It is also nice and easy to use.
