I would have bought one if they did not have a bench seat. No option in the cab/chassis, bench seat or get stuffed. As my wife is only 4'11' and she is driving in the bush, and I am jumping out to move fallen branches/trees or rocks, I could not get in or out with the seat pulled forward. Mazda/Ford were the same issue.

I bought a Mitsubishi Triton 2.8 litre diesel instead - with factory air, bull bar, 2,200kg towbar for yes, yes, $23,480.00 delivered.

Mitsubishi have had them on special and do not know if they still are for $21,990 incl air (factory voucher needed) and $995 for bull bar and 2,200kg square hitch towbar.

Im thinkin with the GU 3.0 Turbo motor in it, it couldnt be all bad.

Like Oziexplorer, I had the problem when I bought a ute, but that was a while ago, Options are hard to come by, so is room...

There was a test on 4 4wd utes a while ago in Toyota (4x4) Monthly, I have it in the dunny for reading material, and could get you more info if you require...

The Lux (dont toyotas always win in their tests!) won the test.

HTH..

Brian,
I drove one and it was very impressive except the roof is to low for anyone near 1800mm the rear seat is a joke, so I did not buy it, would buy one if they fix the head room.

My brother bought the nissan navara double cab 3.0 td recently. It got down to either the hilux 3.0 td or navara. The motor in the navara eventually won him over. Its a pleasure to drive and feels more car like in the city with plentiful torque across the rev range. He tows his boat and trailer over 2 tonne fully loaded up and he is impressed with its towing ability. This is his work vehicle, he also owns a 80 series standard diesel. Must admit though the back seat room is approx 120mm less compared to the hilux. He was in two minds if he made the right decision, but he is more than happy now.
