That worries me on so many levels, but mainly if you have a snorkel fitted what does that say about it's ability to be water tight?

Don't worry be Happy.
The whole system needs checking out for leaks, just block the intake up and listen. O'h do it at idle of course.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Doger, I am happy, I've got a Toyota! LMAO

But on a serious note what about bulldust getting past the filter etc. Sureley if it's leaking around where it clips together could'nt that potentially let dust though to the "clean" side of the filter?? I'm not sure exactly what this air box looks like though so I could be way off the mark.

But yeah an O ring sounds the go, is this "normal" on these vehicles? If so it may pay for others to check also before delving into the deep water...

I would have thought it should have had a gasket or some sort to none of the air bypassed filter ensuring dust etc was filtered out.

This re-affirms my fear as to how good the silicon is which seals the snorkel into the airbox. Looks great when brand new but after a few years time god knows how good it holds up. Let alone any silicone sealed joints I cant see.

So it begs the question how do you test for any air leaks in the inlet path from air ram to air filter.

Cheers,

Glenn.
