Manifold for air compressors

Submitted: Thursday, Jun 02, 2005 at 12:06

For anyone wishing to permanently mount a compressor in their vehicle and have various outlets available , here is a site worth looking at.

http://airbrushbodyart.com.au/hoses_and_manifolds.htm

Sorry, but making this into a link is a bit beyond my technical know-how....but you can copy and paste it.

Cheers

I've got a 1/2 Gallon Tank at the back of the vehicle plus about 20 meters of friggin hose. I was getting stacks out of the little horns but these big mothers only go for about 2-4 seconds before the air compressor cuts in, I still reckon they'd go for about 10 seconds which is plenty (I havn't really gone much more than 2 seconds as they are tooooo loud).
But maybe a bigger tank would be cool.

It's loud enogh to make you jump from inside the car! LMAO.

Mine are only a twin.

They had been sitting at my local auto shop for YEARS. The cardboard box was all starting to fall apart. They were labeled 24v.

I decided to see what the guy would do on them for me as I already had a my ARB pressure switch, so I figured if he'll do-em cheap I'll just hook it up that way.

$20 bucks the man says. Thank you, he even chucked in a few air fittings and said he was glad to get rid of them!

Turns out the air solinoid (big arse chrome one like the one in the picture in your link) was rated 12-24v and works a treat straight of my normal horn relay! LAMO!

WOOHOO!

Man I'm rapped!

Jeff & Roachie,
I have now got a Subaru Forester as a work car. Great little unit for country and city work, but the horn. I used it the other day when a ^&*$ ran me off the road and it just made him laugh. ( Must admit I laughed as well)
Where do I get a air tank and a set of hornes?

Autobarn have (had - havent looked for a while) a kit with triple trumpets + a small tank for couple hundred... not bad, but its designed to be refilled at a servo... just plumb your compressor into it, and happy days.

I bought my air tank from www.trucksprings.com . But you can get one second hand from a truck wrecker or I've noticed ORE in Perth now seel a rang of cool Ally air tanks.
I've just got the ol' Blue tounge hooked up of an ARB pressure switch.

But I tell you what you can do for a cheap fix. I did this recently to my brother in laws Dunnydoor. Went and got a set of those $19 supercreep auto plastic air horns and hooked them up in conjunction with his normal horns (so they both worked) and used BIG arse wire and earthed direct to the battery. Man it's actually very cool, that's one of the reasons I felt the urge to improve on mine as they were almost as good as my last set (not quite, but almost).

$19 and about half and hours work is a lot cheaper than the air tank type setup, not as good, but it'll still make you grin.
