What you are proposing here is not really 'kosher', however, if I was to contemplate such a thing I would definitely visit this site.

Don't stress about the ic400pro thing as an F221 is one of those in 'disguise', not that I would know anything about that.

Basic programming on those units is easy, all you need is the cable (you can buy from your local ICOM dealer or from Ebay) and the software you can buy or there are not so legal copies all over the net that can be "aquired" with no problems.

There is nothing illegal about programming an ICOM, it only becomes illegal if you up the power output more than 5watts on UHF CB Bands or enable TX on any frequencies you are not licnesed to use.

You'll find the software a peice of cake to operate, however don't start playing around with the other package avil (there are two) without knowing what you are doing, keep with the basics. (ie changing frequencies, power outputs etc etc).

Yeah, but you can program each channel to run on a specified power output. ie you could have your works commercial channels @ 25 or 50w and your UHF's at 5W etc.

Of course if there was a repeater that you had a little trouble getting into you may illegally bump it up. Wouldn't be a problem IMHO as long as you don't get caught! I mean as long as you use the radio responsablly and use a decent antenna and good earthing so as not to "splatter" your tranmission all over your neighbours.

Jeff,
Thanks for your reply, the software is quite user friendly now that I have a start, although I'm at the basic end. I have a few handheld icom F60 units so this will be compatable.
