Im looking at a diesel 100 series gxl 170,00ks(99 live axel). I test drove on the freeway and the steering was pulling to the left I just got used to it when the camber on the road changed and it darted to the right and almost changed lanes (and pants). Checked tryes expecting to find 1 flat but ok. Told owner and he said he`d had a w/alingment but it still pulled left or right. The f/left tyre has wear on inside, car has no signs of offroad or repair. any one got any ideas what could be wrong?. Also so bloody SLOW campered to 80 gxl diesel is that normal for a 100 series?

leave it unless its cheap try jacking the front wheels up and checking for play in the front end and wheel bearings. slow could be fuel pump injectors etc , probably blows smoke to . If it aint right buying it isnt going to make it better

The owner said he has had "injectors done" in the last 12 months and has a receipt for $1000. On acceleration it just does not pick up as revs increase ie from standing start to full revs in 3rd its accelerating at the same speed it was at low revs in 1st.

Sounds like the steering box needs an overhaul. It is abit early but sometimes these things happen.

If the front has been lifted this affects castor, which can effect steering - remedies are available for lifted rigid front axles.

Dont touch it...should be better than 80, has lower gearing...steering could be box or relay rod joints....something has play in it.. O now i remember, ive been told the fuel pumps on these motors wear out and give the low power problem... $1000's if its that...

It only had about half power of 91 gxl with 230,000ks on it that I had been driving lately,? i was told 100s were heaver but not twice as heavy $1000's to fix pump before I sort out the steering problem? could be $$ spent on mods (lift ect). does $27,000 sound like fair price? (could run in to $30,000 plus real quick)car is in excelent cond otherwise.

Have a 1999 L/C with same power problem, had pump checked etc.
Was told the standard fuel filter can cause flow problems so went to the aftermarket lucas type, very slight improvement on dyno test but otherwise same, very poor power compared to 80 series.Mine only done around 100ks and compared to my son in laws 80 there is no comparison. Surely both vehicles have same engine/fuel pump/g/box so its got to be weight thing?

no 2 1hz go the same dunno why but get one that goes well. My 80 takes off pretty well and runs out to 150kph no fuss an 80 has a slightly revized motor and a couple of extra kw they seem a bit sluggish at first (60m) but shold get into it after that and slowly keep widing out. If possible a 5k flat out run is invaluable as it shows up heating problems and you get a good idea how the motor is. Follow the seller get him to give it a bootfull a bit of smoke is ok but continous yul bryner impersonations arnt
