Toyota GXL or RV

Submitted: Sunday, Jul 03, 2005 at 20:36

Treading Lightly

Hi,

No one son is purchasing a 94 80 SeriesToyota Landcruiser and I (we) are a little puzzled.

The Vehicle appears to be a GLX minus the following, Guard Flares, Exterior Door and Body protection stripes and standard steel rims. Wheels fitted are split rims.
The rear door is the GLX style not the barn door. Interior is GLX. What is it RV upgraded or GLX downgraded?

I am not sure. Someone else may be able to tell you.

I just raised this as a suggestion as that is sometimes an explanation for weird spec levels. That is as far as my expertise goes!

Cheers

Sounds like a factoy RV not gxl(glx?) should be a full time 4wd same interior as gxl but manual windows not power same exterior as std (no flares or body moulds) but gxl type tailgates, RVs came with split rims.

Hi
This is an RV. It was brought out in 93 as a downgraded gxl, has manual windows, but i think electric mirrors, all GXL interior but split rims ...meant for the serious offroader with 3 kids and their best friends...who needs to get there and back in the space of the weekend...hence the 4.5 donk.
The barn door model is the std and a dx upgrade model, diesel only
Hope this clears it up for you. A good truck all round. Has he checked out ebay at the moment....16k for a gxl.

Yeah, the r/v was not supposed to have electric windows, but hey, ive seen them too....yota probably got mixed up with some of these models :-)
15 would be a good price, again, it depends on milage, and condition...ive seen gxl's go for 15 but didnt have a close look at them....so they were probably not too good.
Bottom line here, there are thousands on the market at the moment, due to petrol prices.

The RV was probably the best value for money model in the Landcruiser range but for some reason was never really a big seller in fact they dropped it in the 100 series last year. When I bought mine it was $6K less & only missed out on a CD player, elect windows, bumper stripes & fat tyres. You could fit all that after market for half the price. In the 100 it even came with solid front axle instead of IFS.

G'day are you looking at it private or at a dealer? If in Sydney beware of certain dealers based at Revesby, wont mention any names, but there known for cut and shuts. They always seem to be cheaper than everywhere else though your actually getting 4 cars in one... Buyers be aware!!!!

Yeh Vitara, you know what the sad thing is? is that people are actually buying them cause there cheap, then realising later there been had, so they put them up for sale now there on the private market..Its so important to have NRMA or another accredited inspection done if your not sure what to look for... If we could stop people from buying cars from these places then car theft would definatly drop!

Forgive me for being opportunistic but I have a very good 94 Cruiser for sale on this site, :-)
Definately worth a look, happy to fax the NRMA reports I had done both before purchase and after minor repairs performed. Spent over $9000 on extras.
Cheers, Barry
