They've closed most of the tracks through Toolangi but you can still follow Pauls Lane through from Yarra Glen to Toolangi... Was out there on Friday, enough mud to have a bit of a play... Nothing too serious though.

S&N,

Maaaaaate, for somewhere close you'll get more than anough mud at Gembrook, get a map of the area.

Rooftops Gembrook Activities Map, is a pretty basic map with enough tracks marked on it to get you into touble, take a mate if you plan on tackling some of the steep rutted sections.

Gembrook.

If you haven't got muddies some of the tracks are bloody near impossible to get up eg Rankins, Goanna, so you're a chance. We went down Goanna a couple of weeks ago in the wet, lots of slipping and sliding but just let it follow the ruts slowly.

We had a go at Rankins and couldn't get up. I didn't even have a go with A/T's. Watched a few blokes with swampers get up the bit we couldn't. Bumped into them later and they said it took them 3 hours to get right through and they had some serious machines.

If you turn left just after Nash's picnic/camp gound this will take you up to the power lines. Some good tracks around there.

If you're going this weekend and want some company, I'm half a chance at this stage and I'm sure we could find a few others.

Cheers,

Jim.

good to see you had commonsense enough to sit rankins out jimbo- was up there a couple of weeks ago and saw a group of @ 15 cars (not trucks) with a bunch clowns driving- these people were even dressed like they were on their way to a coctail lunch- somehow they got a forester with road slippers around the 1st corner at the top hard core section and of course then blocked the track for the next 30-40mins for those of us with capable rigs with serious tyres, experience and recovery equipment- these people didn't even have a handheld radio between them- when we came across them they were using an 8 metre chain between a beaten up old jeep? to recover the forester back down the hill......... crazy stuff!

I live in croydon and often do overnight fri-sat days in the local area, there are plenty of places, toolangi, gembrook, healsville (river crossing in healsy), reefton and a few more. I dont like traveling far for day trips cause when your tired and you want go home you dont need 2hrs travle time. Anyway if you and anyone else in the area want to do a daytrip on a saturday to dirty the cars, I usually go alone anyway so would be happy to join a few others. i got muddies too!

If you like I'll put it up as a gathering.

Cheers,

Jim.

Hey Crazie, is your take on the Mt Skene trip (post 24725) that its a day trip or weekend? (think I incorrectly assumed weekend) I'm not even sure if the date was still up for discussion (24 vs 31) or what. It would be my first EO trip, trying to find my feet on how the masses get organised.

Hi Tonester

I was ammsuing that the snow would be a weekend trip, over the saturday night, expecially if you are making for the huts. Some one will post a proper trip for it. I am thinking of going on the 31st for the weekend, as i would like to go to gembrook for this 23rd day trip.

Best way to get everyone organised is post a trip, people will put their names down and just turn up. Look forward to catching up. If no one else post a trip for the snow , i will next week

Hi Crazie, unfortunately we are busy the weekend of the 30/31 July - otherwise would definitely have been up for it.

All good for 23rd trip at Gembrook though. Do we need to put this up as a Tip/Gathering?
