UN weapon inspector's PATROL ~~

Does anyone know which model of the patrol they are using? Diesel or Patrol ? .............
They look so nice especially the side mirrors~

Yeah, they do look good. Have you seen the Pajeros they have. Not a model I have seen in Aus. Must be US specific.

I would think they should use Pajero instead of Patrol as Pajero may be more suitable to desert terrain over there and it may be faster than Patrol. As you know, they need to get to a place ASAP so that the bad guy may not have enough time to hide any violated material.

Not sure about the current models, but when I worked with the UN in Africa in 94, we were all pretty pleased to find out that we were going to use brand new Patrols. Unfortunately the ones we got had a factory defect in their back suspension and kept braking shockie mounts. The shockies kept breaking clear at the top of the mount. Admittedly we didn't have any roads and all of the work they did was as rough as hell, but the ONLY problem we had was the one with the shockies.

We all thought that the UN had been sold a bunch of duds at a very good price and that would not be the first time that had happened.

Sorry for the delay. We used diesels and other than the identified problem, they vehicles were bullet proof and they did get a terrific pounding

The UN use what ever type of vehicle they can get their hands on at the time. In East Timor they seem to use mainly Discoveries. In Iraq they are proberly using the older model Patrols in case they piss Saddam off and he blows them up (not a bad idea!!). Also in Timor they seem to use mainly Dieso because it's cheaper for them to import. If you are thinking of trying to buy one cheap - don't I have seen what happens to them and the expert serving they get from mechanics from 3rd world countries.
