The tyre pressures you quote are pretty common ballpark figures, for the
tyres and vehicle you are driving. There are lots of variables and opinions out there, but with time, you'll work out what suits you best.
I lower pressures (to about 23-25psi) whenever I leave the bitumen. Its my opinion that
- you reduce the risk of punctures,
- you reduce damage to springs, shocks, and the vehicle itself,
- and it improves the ride
- you get more grip when 4wding
Naturally I go lower for sand - max 20psi, and maybe as low as 8psi depending on how soft it is. I also go below 20psi on badly corrugated roads.
Its what I've found works best for me.
Cheers
