Does anyone know what the quality (range etc) of the Uniden uho13 detachable face units are like. And if the face part will fit in the space/recess above the cd/radio in an 05' Navara. Just looks like a good place to put one.
Oh and an aerial to match.

Athol, I am happy with mine. I use the GME aerial AE109 - mounted on the bonnet gutter. I have had reception in extreme case from Acacia ridge Brisbane to Beaudesert. Regularly pick up Gateway Bridge from Woolloongabba. Seem to get traffic on the highway from about 10k away. These are semis getting picked up - ie nice and high aerials on those guys.

Hi Athol,

Depends mostly on what aerial you get and the ohm's eg. 4,6,8 ect.and how high you mount it.

It also depends WHERE you mount it. If you go for the centre of the roof you'll get a large "ground plane" (the metal roof) and this can help with signal strength and clarity too. Most don't put it anywhere other than their bullbar though - which is not a great place for it, but it's practical because manufacturers put a tab there for you.....
