3500 dohc paj valve stem seals

can anyone advise me of a reliable repairer to replace my valve stem seals on my 3500 dohc paj. melb based. I have tried Mitsubishi by the dollars scared me off.

I'm not sure but I know that they can be replaced without removing the heads. so I assume they are external. & they are leaking quite badly in my opinion. If I let the car idle for 2 minutes then rev it there is quite a large clod of blue smoke. although there is no noticiable smoke when I am driving along.

Paul,

The reason the $$$ scared you off is because to do the valve stem oil seals on that engine (being twin overhead cam) they have to remove the camshafts, to do that they have to remove the timing belt, it is a V6 which means they have to repeat the process for the other side....

Quite a bit of work....

Make sure it is the stem seals, I got a friend who had the same problem and it was the rings...

Why not go to a reliable mechancial shop. Dealers are always horrendously expensive, usually have mechanics that are not as good as those out in the private area, as you can see the dealers are always advertising for mechanics as they don't hold them.

Seems pretty strange these days just to need valve stem seals.

Ozi ,as usual you have no real idea,,the reason dealership workshops have to charge what may seem excessive rates is the overhead involved in keeping the mechanics trained upto the new technology,,,but then again the word FIGJAM is just for you.

Paul- I can recommend David Officer at Officer Smith Automotive in Villiers Street North Melbourne. David is a member of the Paj Club so he would have a lot of people to answer to if he did the wrong thing! Reasonable rates too. I've always been happy with the service. MikeyS
