The most elegant solution is unfortunately the most expensive. On the rear of our Landcrusier we fitted a Kaymar two tyre system & then had a plate made for one of the tyre holders to carry our outboard.
These rear tyre systems are great, on the Landcruiser at least - also allows the spare to come out from underneath leaving space for a long range tank. The catch is not only cost of course but also weight - we are towing a 3,000kg van so unfortunately to carry the boat, motor, trailer etc etc took us over our GVM so we are moving to an F250. With the Troopy you probably will not have this GVM problem.
