The 3 130 amp are a legacy from my 7 x 5 offroad trailer, use the mainly to run the waeco, top them up with a dual battery system whilst driving and an 80 watt panel after setup

The stone guard is a worry and I will be replaceing this with a little chequer plate alloy.

In relation to the wiring I have removed the centurion and wired the van entirley off 12 volt

Thinking of underslinging and turning axle also, but having problems finding rims to fit larger tyres 15 x 7 we can only obtain 14 x 6 because our van is a '92 model and carries '71 holden hubs. Are we on the right track and will we be OK pulling this with Landcruiser 100 series on Fraser, or will we have to replace the brakes and hubs with new assemblies to fit larger tyres to do our trip?

Donna Margaret, you can obtain the brake hubs that will suit bigger rims from caravan dealer type places or trailer parts retailers. Even if you have to replace the axle to acheive the bigger wheels/tyres it is not expensive. New H/D axle roughly $120.00.

My Jayco penguin (not outback) already had the axle underslung but not turned over. I have bought 16" wheels/tyres off an outback eagle and I am going to put new axle and spings to lift it, then put a Hyland offroad tow coupling (thanks truckster) UNDER the draw bar so it should be level whenn towing.

The other things to remember when lifting your camper is if you have an annexe you will need to have the bottom of it extended so it reaches the ground, and the step at the door might need to be changed to a double step.
