Hey there all :)

After re-installing the Piranha dual battery system I ripped out of our old petrol Patrol into our slightly more modern diesel Patrol I came across the main/aux LED battery monitor which I had never bothered installing before. I've lost any instructions I had ages ago, but I'd like to mount it seeing as I've found it again.

The monitor has four wires - red, orange, black & white.

Would someone who has installed one of these be so kind as to tell me which go where?

Muchly appreciated!

Cheers
Chris

Thanks Leroy :)

Are the instructions you have for the larger unit with a toggle switch and swivel mount or for the (I think) newer unit that has a rocker switch (Mark II) ??

The older unit has blue, red, black & white while the Mark II has orange, red, black & white wires

Cheers mate

Chris,

The one I have is the DBM2. The wiring is as mentioned in the post below but there are a few different scenarios on how to hook up. I think the instructions are the same so let me know if you want them scanned and emailed.

Madcow,

Shoot me an email: leroypatrolATaanet.com.au

Slightly off topic but if you are after a battery monitor for about 20-25 bucks you can get a kit from dick smith.

Relatively simple to put the thing in a jiffy box the last couple I've knocked up I put in a toggle switch to switch between main & aux battery, & the push button to check voltage when the ignition is off.

Works just the same as the $150 equivalent - and so it should it uses the same IC to drive it. The components in those Pirhana one would total about $3-5 wholesale. The whole unit assembled with the fancy printed front would be around $10-15 at my estimate - I've been out of component sales for a little while but wouldn't be far off. Hell of a profit margin when you see what they charge for them. But then have you seen how much they charge for what's in the diff breather kit???

Thanks Dave - yeah I agree. The Tricky Dicky kit (as well as a couple from Jaycar) work well.

I was given the Piranha one, so it was pretty "cheap". If I didn't have it I wouldn't bother with a monitor at all...
