Dual batteries in 80-series Landcruiser

Installed a second battery into my '95 80-series (petrol) over the weekend. Followed the instructions from the LCOOL site, and bought the new battery tray etc. from Toyota as per their suggestions - that is, have installed 2nd battery at front of engine bay on driver's side, immediately behind radiator overflow bottle after fitting new, genuine Toyota battery tray (from diesel-engined version, I believe, and a virtual mirror image of the original battery installation).

All worked really well, but am struggling to find a convenient location for the windshield washer bottle in the engine bay. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am very willing to go out and buy another washer bottle and motor if it facilitates easy installation.

Also, I bought a battery isolater solenoid from Supercheap ($95). While looking for somewhere to mount it, I found the most PERFECT location towards the rear of the air inlet manifold - there's an existing flat (vertical) machined surface with existing tapped bolt holes EXACTLY the right distance apart. This location is just forward of the firewall, and so the cables from the isolator to the separate batteries will be minimally unsupported where they pass from the body to the engine. It is also well away from radiant heat coming off the exhaust. Who would believe it? My problem is, will mounting the isolator solenoid on the engine cause me problems in terms of
1.) engine vibration adversely impacting on the operation/longevity of the isolator; and
2.) heat soak from the engine when stopped causing problems with the isolator (I expect that when the engine is running, the temperature of the air inlet manifold will be moderated by the airflow passing through it).

Any thoughts?

I picked up the opposite lock battery tray for my dual batt as it came in a little cheaper than the genuine thing. The OL one came with an extra piece of metal bent up which would be easy to make.

It is a C- Channel piece about 20cm long, 5cm wide and 4cm deep. It has 2x holes drilled in each side- on one side you bolt it to those capive nuts on your car you mentioned- there are several (on both sides of the engine bay too), and on the other side of the C channel you bolt on your washer bottle. It just spaces it from the engine bay wall and acts as a seccure adaptor plate to bolt on to.

The heat has not been an issue- if you tuck it in behind the air box it stays cool. I have a bent up metal bar fixed to 2 capive nuts on the other side so there is complete airflow around the isolator, but I dont think its much of a problem anyway.

The battery tray is from a 3f petrol 80 series here in oz, or some 80's in turbo diesel run dual batteries in europe and 24 volt starting.
Ok, the isolator needs to be on the body or similar...while the motor could house it, the motor moves around alot and the wires you run to and from the isolator will eventually fail from vibration. The heat at the back of the bay will be hotter than the front, i suggest drilling two holes in that new shroud, where minimal length cable can be ran from both batteries to the isolator.
The water bottle is usually placed further back (behind the aircleaner) on thesame side...you only pick up one bolt hole at the front end unless you go to ARB and buy a special bracket to hold it firmer....my mate has his there and it was fitted there from Toyota as new...when he got them to put in a dual battery. (They only used the one bolt and it hasnt failed in 11 years/220kms)

DustyM ,. methinks you got the radiator overflow and washer bottle mixed up /ar-e about ...when fitting the standard 80series lefthand [facing the engine from front of vehicle] aux battery tray all you have to shift/move is the radiator overflow bottle ,mount the tray with the bolts into the already there mounting holes ,radiator overflow bottle then slides back into its original mount next to radiator ,,,, as for mounting the solenoid ,,best to mount onto body ,,NOT onto engine itself .

You must own a diesel std :-)) or an early 80 (pre93)
The petrols and later 80's (excelt std's) have the washer bottle on the drivers side infront of the air cleaner.
