Diamond,

What are you planning on using it for...a car shower? Have heard of them for this use. Considerably cheaper than the Glind or Twine but don't know if they are as good.

Well, that looks like the go. How much is the Twine unit all up? If you bought the Helton heat exchanger ($99) and a Shurflow pump ($160), hoses ($30??) shower rose and hose ($20??), then say at $300, is that cheaper?

Or you could lose the Shurflo pump and get something cheaper.

I am a Gas Technician by trade so can make one myself with copper, but with labour I don't reckon you could get one made for $99.

Someone buy one!!

My thoughts exactly...someone buy one and let us all know!

It's got me thinking. Glind and Twine use the Flojet and Shurflo pumps. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative with a good name. If you could get something that would give you an in-car shower for under $300.

Twine is $380 on this site.

Is anyone else having trouble getting to the models, installation & specs page of the Helton website? I can get their main home page, but not these other pages.

Hi diamond I was looking at one of them as well and am going to buy one . I have a bildge pump and a shower head I used to use when I had a old heat exchange fitted to my holden HQ.I don't have the heat exchange anymore but I have the rest of the stuff. The pump works well it pumps out 20L in around 3m.I let you know how it goes.

Droped in to see the Guy at Healton heat exchangers just before Xmas!
They look verry good I saw the unit mounted on their Cruser troopy. Had been sitting for an hour and the water was HOT!(couldn't hold hand under) They use it on a regular basis for camping and hand washing on the job. He uses his vehcle mount air compressor to presurise(10psi) a small water tank so no pump! They come in several hose connector formats depending on the setup of your heater hose's. I will be buying one as soon as I get my new Patrol. Give the guy a call he is eay to talk to.

Hi Brian, Was their troopy a petrol or a diesel, if their's was petrol and you are going to get a diesel the output temperature will be vastly different. The diesel runs much cooler, the 4,2 patrols run even more cooler than the diesel landcruisers. Hope this helps

This one caught my eye as I was scanning the forum. So I checked out the Helton website. Maybe it's just me, but they make some pretty good claims about their unit. One pass of water and it heats to 50-60 degrees.
That seems almost too good to be true for a unit that is 100mm shorter than the Twine unit but the same diameter.
Maybe they do with a slower flow rate.

HI Tourer, they probably have more copper tubing in them,Instead of having a single row coil , they may have a innner coil, allowing the unit to be shorter with an increase in length of copper tubing. Michael
