Just returned from the high country yet again and what a distaster some of the tracks are .Went in from William Hovell and up Buckland spur about 3-4 ks in and out came the chainsaw spent 3-4 hours clearing the track with a 28 Inch bar saw and finally decide d to turn back and head up evans creek track (so much better).
Came through Lake Cobbler and Abbyyard tracks in to Wonnagatta.Did a day trip up to MT Sara and it looked like a cyclone had been through trees everywhere again but manage to get around most of them, returned down Hern Spur track and helped a few motorbike riders across the rivers there .They were heading for Talbotville advised them they may not get across at the Wongungarra and crooked river meeting point hope i was wrong and they made it .Headed home up Zeka and Kingbilly only to find extended closure at track to lovitts hut.Was i good trip in total was dissapointed though as we passed Butchers country track looked like it was open but didnt have time to look closer would have been good track home ..

A group of us are heading up there in 10 days & unfortunately Butchers is closed until early December. Plan to head from Licola to Wonnangatta then Talbotville & back to Licola via Billy Goats. Should be an awesome 3 days & hopefully rivers wont be too high. According to parks vic, all the tracks we are planning to do are open, with the exception of Butchers.

Cheers

Ask Parks and DSE if they have actually driven the respective tracks or did they just "Open the Gate".

Cup weekend told "Yep all tracks are open", 5 hours and 6 km's of track clearing later still not completed back tracked due to heavy rain.

Come along to an official Vic 4x4 association track clearing weekend & Parks will pay some of your fuel bills, not that thats the reason we should clear them. If we don't they may never open some again.

Thanks gqpat. I get on the site regularly to check river heights, not just there, but for the Murray at Tocumwal where I go sking.

At the moment they are all steady/falling, but it is worthwhile for anyone going up there to check the bom site.
