I parked my caravan under the Carport. The Solar Panel is the colorbond roofing.
Can anyone advise me a solution? I was thinking to replace a roofing sheet with a skylight but do not know which type is suitable. My present roofing are colorbond roofing sheet from STRATCO. Thank you

I assume you mean..... solar panel UNDER the colourbond roofing.
If you replace an appropriate of colurbond with any clear polycarbonate product your solar panel will work.... (Eg: Laserlite etc)

Your question isn't all that clear to me, but it seems you have solid colourbond sheeting on your carport roof and the solar panel doesn't get any light, and you want it to.

If it were me, I'd be heading down to Stratco and asking them. You can buy clear sheeting in the same profile, and replace the whole sheet or just a section over the solar panel. A bit of silicone, section of clear sheeting, remove existing and replace, tek screws, jobs done.

Try the solar panel under a bit of roofing polycarb first. This sheeting usually has a UHF protective layer to extend the life of the polycarb. You may find the output from the panel is greatly reduced under roofing polycarb.

The sun is using CB frequencies now. Wow.

I think you mean UV protective layer?

It's a good point as solar relies on the UV spectrum of the light to generate energy. I'd be talking to a specialist like the 12 volt shop. I'm sure you aren't the first to do this.

AHHHH Yes Dave. You spotted the deliberate mistake ! What was I thinking.
don't believe roofing has to be RF shielded just yet.

Toally out of left field,
What if you bought say a 50w Solar panel and mounted it on your carport roof! It'll supply more than enough trickle charge to maintain your caravan batteries (I'm assuming that's the aim of this excercise) Run some cable down to the caravan, you could even get technical and install some sort of plug and socket arrangement for connection. You already own the solar regulator.
Definitely easier than changing the roof, guaranteed to work and possibly cheaper too!! Ask the 12 Volt Shop for some idea of costs.

Geoff.

I run a 2 watt solar panel on the carport roof to keep my two boat batteries charged. Never been flat after 5 years. Get 3 -4 years out of each battery. No regulator, no boil etc etc.
Not bad for boat batteries as you usually see the car battery being dragged out at the ramps every weekend!
