Jan Long Weekend Destination with CT

Neetas

Hi folks
Any suggestions for a location from Melbourne for a LWE suitable for offroad camper trailers? Prefer base camp location although any touring would be considered. Only just bought the camper, although have driven 4wds for many years, but preferably nothing to hairy to get to the base camp.
Ideally not more than half a day's drive to get there to maximise the enjoyment. Appreciative of any suggestions.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Neetas

Agree with Truckster - Sheepyard Flat is a good area - even out to 8 mile flat further along the same road (plus some other camp locations) all accesible.

Saw another spot on recent trip to Wonnangatta via Licola. After this town on the Wellinton river are 13 or 14 sites that will take a number of camps. Road in is fine and you can cruise around off the Howitt plain. This looks like a good area if you live SE of Melbourne.
