A while back some one did this area and I think they were going to do a report.
Has it been done or did I miss it.

Eric, you tried searching. By the way, the present ranger thinks it's necessaary to close the track during summer.

I checkecked out the LCOOL link you posted and have to say I was a bit disturbed by the almost proud write up of the damage done to the track.

I've done the Border Track numerous times now at various times of year and in various conditions. It's a great run and with correct tyre pressures and approaches there is no need for the damage that is being done. I have seen the pits dug on some of the dunes and can't even work out how you could do it even if you tried!

I have been beaten a few times on some of the dunes but when you get beaten you simply reverse down and try again with a different approach or different tyre pressure etc. This leaves virtually no damage to the track. What sense is there in sitting there tearing up the track when you can go no further?

The ranger is now closing the Border Track for the summer months on the stated reason of safety in bush fire season but I wonder if it is not just to allow the track to recover somewhat.
