The 73/74 series was usually known as a "Mid wheelbase" LandCruiser, and was the popular one that came with the FRP top.

The 70series (Bundera) as mentioned above was the "Short wheelbase" and was a hardtop - a bit small for many.

The 75 series was always the long wheelbase - either troopie or cabchassis from 1985 to 1999.

Then in 1999, Toyota replaced the 75series with the 78 and 79series. I guess the chose different numbers because the Traytop now has a longer wheelbase than the troopie.

The petrol 73/74 series were petrol guzzlers (like most 3F motored LandCruisers) but it was a pretty reliable motor and is easy and cheap to fix. The diesel 3.4 litre 3B motor was as relaible as they get, but was naturally pretty gutless by today's standards. But they are good vehicles, with the heavy duty running gear - same as was on the 60series at the time.

Weely,the top was a bit of a pain to get off. Bolts across top of windscreen, 3 in roll bar above your head, and remove rear side panels and remove row of bolts up in the inner guard. It lookes a bit silley because the back and front doors are still at full height.

You're right, it is an import, however is Leaf Sprung and has the 3.4 TD.

K's are lower than I thought, in fact amazing low for an 86... although coming from Japan , I guess they don't have to drive far... which I guess could well mean that many of the k's are short distance ones???

Also being an Import... will my Troopy stuff still transfer to it?

Price is still high... what is your learned opinion?

As far as i can rember 13B motor came out in the coaster bus and dyna truck without the turbo. I dont know how much fuel they use my 4.2 got 10L/100k. Price, I got $10,000 for mine 4 years ago(you have got me wishing I never sold mine, but 2 doors and a baby dont mix). Try getting a mag called just 4X4 it is a auto trader mag just on 4X4 most news agents have them, might give you a better idea on price. The motor as far as I know is as strong as an ox, the auto I dont know anything about them.
