Did the same trip in August /Sept 2005 We left our van at Kona Lakeside Caravan Park We found it to be a great park Jason & Yvonne I think were the names of the people that ran the park they let us store our van outside their residence in a secure position with power for $4 per night there were no dramas whilst we did the Gibb river Rd. and up to Kalumbaru We took 12 days a great trip. Call into El Questro You will need 5 days at least , check out Drysdale River Station Great place and try a Kimberley Burger , Miners Pool, Kalumbaru is good especially McGowans island and meet George He is Great do a fishing trip. Thought that it was better than Honey Moon beach,Barnet river Gorge, Bell Gorge Is Great well worth the walk, Windjana Gorge & Tunnel Creek < We thought were great but there is lots more. ENJOY

Left our van at Kimberleyland c/p...they charge a few dollars a day and put it down the back near the caretakers quarters, so they could keep an eye on it.

We stored a very large motorhome (the size of a semi trailer) at Hidden Valley Caravan Park, Weaber Plains Road in Kununurra for $2 per night in May 2004. The normal storage place (several kms out of town, can't rember their name) initially wanted $5 per day then changed their mind to $10 per day because of the car trailer. We didn't feel like being ripped off. Can't vouch for the prices now at Hidden Valley, but I would be surprised if they had changed. One of the best caravan parks in Australia (and we have seen a lot of it) is the Ivanhoe Village Caravan Resort (corner Coolibah and Ivanhoe Roads). It is quite new, beautiful gardens, sealed roads, lawn everywhere, loads of shade, fantastic camp kitchen (with a big oven) and only a dollar or so more than other parks in Kununurra. We strongly recommend it.
Spend as time as possible on the Gibb River Road. There are many gorges to see and they are all great. It is one of the prettiest regions in Australia.
