New vehicle added to current stable - a Landy

Righto - I've been copping flack for being a Jeep owner for a while.... so here you go..... I'm now also a Land Rover owner too!

Today we pick up a '00 Defender TD5 with all the accessories under the sun fitted already.... and I mean ALL. It's really set up for remote outback travel - except for HF (but I tend to use a sat phone anyway).

Still have the two GQ's for a while though... so along with the Saabs, our yard is now officially FULL :)

Hi Omaroo, being, as you pointed out, on the receiving end of snipes because you own a jeep should have you well prepared for the no-brainer comments about owning a landy.

I don’t know what it’s like having a jeep and having any sort of contact with other jeep owners, but you will very quickly find out that you are now a member of a pretty friendly mob of 4x4 owners and you will find that unlike groups of owners of other makes of 4bys landy owners don’t care if you also have other makes of 4x4s and you may even find that if you have a problem with one of the other makes, you will actually get helpful and HONEST assistance from other landy owners.

Cheers and welcome aboard and for some great landy support try this forum.

Yep - same sort of friendly sub-culture exists in Jeep circles, although they may not be as objective about their views of other machines - which is probably why they attract so much flack in the first place.

I was taking the Defender for a spin yesterday evening and have already been "waved" by one going the other way. This is what it's all about. I don't get this in the other cars - even the Jeep (admittedly Grand Cherokee owners aren't exactly "Jeep-o-philes" like TJ and CJ owners).
