16 inch rims onto new Patrol

Submitted: Saturday, Feb 04, 2006 at 07:00

Chugga

My new Patrol has 17inch alloy wheels and low profile tyres. Without me pounding the pavement and the tyre dealers, can anyone tell me if 16 inch say, Sunraysia steel rims will safely fit the car so as I can fit a set of 265/85 R16 BFGs. Thanks in advance guys.

Depends if you have the bigger brakes fitted. Is it a diesel or petrol? If it's petrol, then I'd say No. If diesel, then should be alright, however, it would pay to double check by trying a wheel at a dealer first.

G'day

See my vehicle pics. GUIV with 16 inch rims. Nissan stated that 16s can be fitted and the tyre placard is a Nissan Part ( 265/65-16 from memory???). Look in your manual and see the range of wheels/tyres that are fitted on the various models. When I checked there was no change in running gear between the various models. You will need to check again with Nissan to confirm. ( GUIV rims are 8 inches wide).

Purchase trhe tyre placard and providing you stay within the allowed tyre mods by your state all will be happy, including your insurance company.

Make sure the offset matches the OEM wheels.

Regards

Paul
