Sometime ago, someone submitted a posted about their experience with leaving a roadhose accidently without paying and then being pulled over in the next town by a cop and charged with not paying.

Does anyone know what the final outcome has been or has it been heard in court yet.

I think the name of the thread was " whats happens when you forget to pay for your bacon & eggs", he was travelling between Brisbane & Kurumba, I only posted the question to him a couple of weeks ago, as you say, hope he replies, I'd like to know the outcome as well.

It's easy on Bali. U never stop ya motorbike for the cops. There's to much traffic for them to catch ya. If ya stop then ya gotta give em money....

He would probably have been asked a few questions and then told to pay up if it was a genuine mistake. Otherwise he could have been charged if they thought he did it deliberately.

There was a time when there was no suitable offence for driving off without paying but the legislators eventually got around to writing up a special section in the crimes act for it.

so it should be in legislation....i work for caltex and there is nothing worse than someone driving off deliberately or not without paying...even if they are local and you know that they'll come back...our servo in just one year loses $20,000 in just drive offs and thats the average over the past 6 yrs that ive worked there....

there are usually 3 main reasons why a drive off happens:

1. Its deliberate and they usually fill up from almost empty using the most expensive fuel - premium..

2. People move their car from the pumps to let someone else in then go and pay...this creates havoc on the consols inside and if its very busy - which is why people move - then the operator is usually too busy serving customers to look out at the forecourt and see who is where...people forget how much they have bought /dont know what pump they were on or even say where that car is that they have just let in....

3. In about 10% of cases the consol operator doesnt ask if the customer has fuel....usually because they have other things on their mind like checking that the right prices for things come up on the screen, getting the many packs of smokes people ask for, or just plain old forget....

Sorry - just having a whinge!!

Im suprised cops actually went after him...but would he have been honest and gone back and paid ??????
