Canning Fuel Consumption

Just wondering how much Diesel a Troopcarrier will use on the Canning,My capacity is 360 Lts, Vehicle would be not too heavey, just me

In 2004 going north to south my 80 series diesel used 299 litres. including side trips we did 2317 kms from Halls creek to Wiluna and we had 2 adults on board.

We didn't refill at Wiluna, it was Meekatharra.
Revised figures are a total of 2544 kms and , 379 litres of fuel at 6.71 kms/litre.

When I did it last year I carried 270 from Wiluna, filled 205 lt at well 23 and had enough to get to Rabbit Flat via Wolf Creek Crater.

You will have to top up somewhere.

There is a article in the latest Overlander mag and there would be something on this site about the amount of fuel.

Did the CSR last year from Wiluna To H Creek. 80 Series Landcruiser T/Diesel Auto. Average fuel cosumption 5.5 km/Litre.
Car was heavily loaded

Doug back in '91 we did the whole CSR in my HJ75 troopy. We had 200litres on board at well 23 and arrived at Halls Creek with 40 litres left. That included numerous side trips to visit wells plus a two day cross country detour via Balgo Hills as the northern section beyond well 50 was flooded and unpassable.
360 litres should be enough for the whole CSR.

Also in a Troopie, averaged 16lt per 100k overall. North to south, carried 240lt and at Well 23 had to scrounge around to find mt 20lt drums to use up the 200lt drum.

Used 160lt to get to well 23 from Willuna with a few side trips and visiting every well. Of that 240 carried 160 was in tanks.

Another HJ75 troopy with 2a/3c in '92 we used 170l from Halls Creek to well 23 and less than that to Carnegie. We had to leave the CSR at well 9 due to flooding.
The top half is where you will use the most fuel. We took 100l at well 23 and had enough to get to easily Laverton before refuelling.

my GU 4.2d weighed in at 4 tonne and used 16.5 litres per 100 km on the CSR.It has done it twice with fuel consumption being the same both times.
