Malco, after reading the comparos in all the 4wd mags, I discovered that the compressor that Supercheap auto parts had on special fo $99 is almost identical to the Bushranger pro air, four of us purchased them and I used mine for the first time today, it took 12 minutes to inflate a 750x16 from dead flat to 55ps..

have a search of the archives, but this has been done before.

theres a thread on this page about one of the El-Cheapos dying after a few months.

Go with an ARB, well tried and proven.

Where's the ARB made?? The same o/s country as the El Cheapo's or somewhere else?

I'm in the market for a compressor and the deciding factor for me will be the units specs not the colour nor a badge.

Its not only the El Crappos that fail, others such as ARB do as well, but you have to look at the circumstances in which the unit was used/ abused, how/where it was stored, how old was it.

Will concede that in most cases you do get what you pay for but shelling out $$$ for a unit sold thru a 4x4 shop that has the same specs as a unit sold elsewhere is foolishness.

It seems like 4 wheel driving is just like the marine game, a licence to print money.

Cheers

it could be made in some shonky O/S country, but in a good factory...

ARB have Good QC, with ISO specs on a lot of their things.

Got my arb fitted today under the drivers seat on my GQ, bleep in fantastic.

Buy 2 elcheapos or one quality unit, up to you.
PS with arb compressor you can run an air tank fairly easily.

I'm pretty sure the ARB compressor is made by ARB down in Melbourne.

Bought the Blue Tounge II 2 months back and very happy with performance. Done a fair bit of sand driving at Stockton Beach. Deflated the tyres to 15psi and got back to on-road pressure (29psi for Pajero NM) within 2 minutes. Stinking hot day as well!. Paid $420 with a pretty good gauge bundled in.

Hi All
I have a Hurricane 3 compressor that I payed $120 for from Auto One it is a cheepie , I have used it almost every day this summer to inflate 4 265.75x16 tyres from 18 psi to 36 psi this is required to get up a sand hill on a track that I travel every day, inflation takes about 15 minutes for all 4 tyres. The compressor is too hot to touch after this but has never stopped.I figure it has now done 250 tyres!
Regards Ken.
