not the cheapest option, but for quality and versatility, the GME 4700 series is good value. However really only suitable for bullbar mounting.
I use a 4705 antenna and base. Into that I can also use the larger 4706 antenna, but it does tend to lay back a bit at 110km/h, but good for slow desert work. You can also use all the smaller antenna's in the 4700 range, and you can use the AE409L antenna on the 4705/6 base.
I use this configuration for when I go shooting I can replace the big whita antenna's with the 409 in 6db set up which creates less of a target for wayward bullets.
