Pathfinder v Pajero

I'm looking at trading in my 03 Pathfinder mainly due to fuel efficiency problems when towing my camper trailer.
I am looking at either the Pathfinder 2.5 Turbo Diesel or Pajero GLX 3.2 Di D. So far have managed to find info on the Pajero through the achives but not on the later model Pathfinders. I was wondering if any one else has done any comparisons on the two and what conclusions they reached as far as fuel usage reliability etc
Have looked at Patrols and Cruisers but unfortunatly price has ruled them out.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated

Do a forum search, quite a lot of info here.

The Paj has more space for dual batteries and a bigger boot but the Pathfinder is lighter on fuel. Both are quite good vehicles.

Found a little on Pajeros but almost nothing on the late model diesel Pathy's. Both are rated at around 10 /100 k's but I'd like to kmow how they would rate towing approx 1100 kg. Also would like to know how much more efficient they are as opposed to petrol considering diesel is know dearer than petrol. Is diesel still a better option

try the temporary forum over at www.pcoa.org.au There are a few R51 owners over there and they have given very good feedback on the new pathy. They seem very happy with fuel consumption and there a few trip reports as well.

Would trading one Nissan in on another get you a better deal than trading a Nissan in on a Mitsi?

As others have said try the pcoa.org.au forum.

I am currently getting 8.2 l/100km in my manual R51 TD, Sydney peak hour. The other thing to consider is power and torque. When you compare the engines you will find that the Pathfinder has much power kw and tourqe compared the the Prado.

Do a search for older posts, you should find lots. Both have benefits. I chose the Pathfinder.

You should be able to get some real world pajero figures on the Vic pajero club forum. Seen heavy fuel consumption towing to very good figures.

I went through a similar exercise over the last couple of months - my Disco lease was up and the choices were a Disco 3, Pathfinder or Pajero (all diesel). The D3 was too expensive for the SE (air suspension etc and the base coil model was a 4 month wait), the Pathy was falling apart in the showroom (trim coming off, body filler everywhere) and the Pajero was a well-rounded proposition (5yr warranty, ok engine, well finished, lots of accessories available like snorkels and bash plates, almost half the service costs of the D3) and the price was good. My GLS arrives in around a week. I'll get used to the looks (I hope!).
