Lifeline AGM Batteries

Submitted: Monday, Apr 03, 2006 at 17:57

Lorne

I'm after some info on these type of batteries, I have a remco 100Ah and more than happy with it. BCF are selling these lifeline AGM's here in QLD with a 5 Year warranty. Does anyone have one and if so what are they like?

I've had one for nearly two years, no complaints so far. It's in the car to power the fridge.

The bloke at Federal Batteries (distributor of both) reckons the only difference is lifespan.

When I needed another for the Jayco, only to run lights and the fan now and then, I put a REMCO in as it was $100 cheaper. It's only 5 months old and I've got no complaints about it either.

Cheers,

Jim.

Derek from Affordable Batteries & Radiators replied:

All batteries have a life based on cycles. Any brand of AGM will serve you well but keep to the recommended charging voltages and don't over discharge the battery.

Also note that high under bonnet temp can decrease service life.

The Remco vs Lifeline question is an interesting one, the retailers talk about lifespan and even hand made vs mass made in China..? I'm not so sure about this, as for lifespan, do we really know that Remco bateries are lasting 2-3 years less than a Lifeline , I don't think so yet..? I haven't heard one bad thing about Remco but if the Retailers couldn't differentiate between Lifeline and Remco with the lifespan story, they would never sell another Lifeline, because they are dearer..! So whilst I suspect Lifeline is the superior brand I'm not sure it'w worth the difference in some cases..? If we get 7 years out of any battery I think we'd be happy unless we're talking military spec or mission critical applications.

Battery World, if you've got them there. Around $260 for a 100 amp job.

Yo George,

Good 2C U have a sense of humour.

In fact I was born and bred in Adelaide (Glenelg Nth) to B exact.

Went 2 Goody Tech when it was and was in the lifey's at the Bay for many years.

Went 2 school with the Chappel Bros - Greg, Ian and the youngest Trev....I also used 2 play cricket in old Vic Richardsons backyard (their Grandfather) so anything I say 'bout Adelaide is in jest ok!!!!!

Do you remeber the Princeton club at the Magill townhall?

Bob Francis was the MC - Is he still around? Used to work at 5KA radio station...

have fun.....and yep it's the "DOGGIE"

Hi Crazy Dog - I have bad news! - I came out to Adelaide in 1970/71 with my wife and son from the old dart so, no, I don't recall the Princeton Club. Re Bob Francis: yes he is still around. I think he is about to be seriously punished for remarks he made during a drunken (alledgedly), vociferous and putrid verbal attack on a Magistrate during his radio 'show' one night recently. Good ol' Adelaide!

Lorne,
What's the "technical" benefits of a 'LifeLine' AGM battery over a Fullriver AGM battery ??
