I fitted LPG to my dual cab ute back in '98. Recoup time/Kms was about 100,000 then. Have since done 160,000 but cost differances between ULP and LPG in the NT are verry little. I use approx 1.5 time LPg to ULP.
Using specifig gravities of each component, I burn the same "weight" of fuel per Km.
SG of UPL = .695Kg per Litre
SG of LPG = .510Kg per Litre
Not sure of regulations in WA but in the NT, require as Gas Installation Inspection anually for rego purposes, Plus tank must come out after 10 Yrs for pressure testing, inspection, and certification.
These are added costs you must place into the equation.
I lost the spare wheel storage for a 63L tank, which gives me 400Km between fills.
Knowing the Rav4, the only place that a tank of any usefull size could be fitted is in the rear cargo area. Are you willing to lose this space?
Nick.

Have since found out need an inspection on the tank every ten years. My biggest concern is whilst the RAV is going strong now, she is 11 years old, and I fear may not last the life of the first tank (also some what concerned at going over the pits to get approval for the tank - never know what else they might find?)
Still not sure if I happy to lose the rear cargo area, but some shelving will make it more useable. I have a tow bar to carry stuff, but like beign bale to drop the seats for bulky stuff.
Look slike it might be back to the drawing board!
Thanks
RD
