Evening all. I am looking to travel down from Brisbane to Armidale via Summerland Way to Grafton then on to Coramba & across to Dorrigo & to Armidale. Then return via Armidale to Grafton Rd to Grafton then inland a little to Tabulam then to Brisbane. what are the roads like between Coramba & Dorrigo,& Nymboida to Wollomombi also things worthwhile to see & of course free camping . We are self sufficient. We will be travelling in a motor home about 6mtrs long. also pull a small 4x4 if there is anything of interest off the black top.Thank for all replies if i receive any. Cheer's Bob.

roofscooter2,

the road from Coramba to Dorrigo is sealed to Ulong and then it is dirt to nearly all the way to Dorrigo. It is a good dirt road although narrow and windy at times. There isnt much to look at, nothing reall except good mountain scenery.

Dorrigo has the NP with the skywalk and a really nice woodworking gallery on the way out to the skywalk. There is a good meal to be had at the Dorrigo Hotel and ther is also Dangar Falls (on the way into Dorrigo from Coramba) and the Dorrigo Railway Collection.

The road from Dorrigo to Nymboida is tarred, narrow country road. There is camping at Platypus Flat as well as Chellundie National Park (17 K dirt road and narrow)

From Nymbodia to Wollomombi is tarred and there is camping at Guy Fawkes National Park and also New England National Park at Point Lookout. Just south of Point Lookout is the Stykes River with some free camping, but road in is narrow dirt road.

Ebor Falls are worth a look.

Camping is limited at Wollomombi Falls (good lookout into Chandler River in Oxley Rivers Wilderness)

From Armidale, you might want to concider going up to Glen Innes and then take the Grafton Rd to either Gibralter Range National Park or Washpool National Park, then down to Jackadgerry and turn left towards Tabulum.

Between Jackadgerry and Tabulum you could visit the Clarence River Gorge (on private property so bookings required) at Copemanhurst. Google search should show up something.

Once at Tabulum you can go north to Brisbane through Bonalbo and there are plenty of campsites around.

West of Tabulum is a free campsite just past Drake.

You could also head towards Kyogle and take the Lions Rd up int Qld and there are free campsite on the Qld side.

Hope this helps.

Enjoy the trip.

Yeah, what cruiser said.
All the falls between Armidale and Dorrigo are worth a look(it's called the Waterfall Way). Also climbing Cathederal Rock is pretty good.

And, if you are a train buff, the collection at Dorrigo is great!
