Anyone know of a 'short' wat to get from "Emu" to Yulara?

I'm hoping to explore Maralinga and Emu from Adelaide in Jul this year and wanted to "come home" via Ayers rock.. I was wondering if anyone has travelled the "Mount Davies Rd" from Emu, through the Great Victorian Desert NW (or SE) through to Ayers Rock? A reliable source tells me that permits are unlikly to be granted for travel through the aboriginal lands in this area to go direct through to Yulara from Emu.
Now I know the Anne Beadell heads out west but if I can avoid going all the way to Nealle Junction and onto the Connie Sue Highway by going on the Mount Davies Rd then that will save me a lot of travelling. As Mt Davies Rd misses out Warburton etc and links up to Mulga Park Rd, leading onto Tjukuru Rd to Ayers Rocks etc, but I was wondering if anyone here had done this trip and if so.. what were the roads like. I'm not against going the long way around if I have to but I guess I am looking for advice about the shortest "FEASIBLE" way from Emu to Yulara.

AFAIK they do not give out a permit for that section of road, that being said I do know of people that have travelled it on official business.
Guess you can only ask Central Land council.
We asked after we had a permit to visit Surveyor Generals' corner if we could continue on through and got a firm No, permits unobtainable.

I passed the southern intersection of the Mount Davies Road (Anne's Corner) on January 1st this year.

I didn't drive up it but from what I could see from the corner was that it was rather overgrown and looked fairly unused. Like any old track I would imagine, it can be traversed - at varying levels of damage to your vehicle depending on how you drive.

Good luck if you go - it looks as if there's a few points of interest on the way.
