Mysterious switch in 04 SR5 fuse area

G'day,

I was having a look at the interior fuses of my 04 Hilux SR5 3.0TD and found a small black switch. It's kind of like a button switch which just pushes in but doesn't actually click. It is just loose in the area and is on a rather short wires so doesn't seam to acually belong to a mounting position. Just curious as to what it is for and if anyone can shed some light.

No idea but it sounds like a 'reset' button of some sought.

Could be an alarm / immobiliser over ride. To allow you to start the hilux with the key when the alarm is on.

Probably be a circuit breaker for the power windows or something similar.

Probably is to do with alarm system as you suspect. Just didn't look like it was part of the alarm system wiring. I will call and ask. Nice of them to tell you about these sort of things eh.

its about 10mm diameter, 8mm high with a 2 or 3 mm "button" in the middle and is a momentary contact, i'm guessing.

if so Yes as stated it is a "valet" switch to allow alarm overides, and change the modes of operation of the alarm .

its standard practice to put them within reach from the drivers area.
